More About The University Of Messina
The University of Messina, founded in 1548 by Pope Paul III, was the world’s first Jesuit institution and is now one of Italy’s oldest universities. The University of Messina has attracted eminent scientists and historical personalities over the ages, including Giovanni Marcello Malpighi (1628–1694), an Italian biologist and physician known as the “Founder of Microscopical Anatomy, Histology, and father of Physiology and Embryology”, several physiological aspects associated to the biological excretory system, such as the Malpighian corpuscles and Malpighian pyramids of the kidneys, and the Malpighian tubule system of insects, are named after him.
