More About The University Of Naples – Federico II
The University of Naples Federico II is the world’s oldest public non-sectarian university, having been founded in 1224 and today divided into 26 departments. It is one of the oldest academic institutions in continuous operation and was Europe’s first university specialized to teaching secular administrative employees. Federico II is Italy’s third-largest university by enrollment, yet despite its size, it is nevertheless one of the greatest in the country and the world, with a focus on research; in 2015, it was listed among the top 100 institutions in the world in terms of citations per publication.
One of Federico II’s prominent graduates is Antonio Cardarelli (1831–8 January 1927), an Italian physician best known for describing Cardarelli’s sign an aberrant tracheal pulsation that can be seen in individuals with aortic arch dilatation or aneurysm.
